THE STORY:

We began our wayfinding project in John Day, Oregon with an extensive period of research and discovery, which involved walking and photographing their entire trail system and then using ArcGIS software to map out the routes and tag their signage needs.

We developed a set of signage and wayfinding guidelines for all sign types, both pertaining to the present trail and future trail developments, and included a set of custom icons, as well as educational signage about the nearby wildlife, flora, and fauna.

This ArcGIS map was a vital asset in the creation of an illustrated map of the trail which included custom illustrations showing key locations and landmarks throughout the town.
